MONITORING SERVICES

GTI and ERDF landscape PNG.png

PA Welburn Ltd is pleased to announce that we are now able to provide groundwater and ground gas monitoring due to recent purchase of a GA5000 gas monitoring and interface probe.  We were able to purchase the equipment with the help of a grant, through the New Anglia Growth Through Innovation Grant Scheme, which is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

Brian has considerable experience in undertaken groundwater and ground gas monitoring and can also undertake sampling using a wide range of techniques.

For groundwater monitoring and sampling this includes:

  • Well development (utilising vigorous methods to remove drill fluid and sediment prior to monitoring, purging and sampling including use of surge blocks);

  • Monitoring of water and separate phase liquid levels using dip meter and/or interface probe;

  • Well purging (by ‘normal’ methods to remove 3-times the well volume and using low flow techniques to remove water until specific parameters stabilise;

  • Calibration and use of multiprobe to measure water parameters in the field;

  • Use of peristatic and bladder pumps to obtain groundwater samples;

  • Sampling of groundwater in laboratory provided jars and bottles, with no air space and packing in cool boxes with cooling aids prior to dispatch to laboratory.

For ground gas monitoring and sampling this includes:

  • Use of various on-site gas analysers for monitoring permanent gas concentrations (carbon dioxide and methane) and recording flow rates;

  • Installation of sub-slab and near-slab monitoring points using hand held equipment for subsequent sampling of gas for VOC analysis;

  • Installation of near-source monitoring wells using window sample rig specifically for collection of gas samples for VOC analysis;

  • Use of laboratory supplied equipment to take gas samples in negatively-pressurised gas containers for subsequent laboratory analysis;

  • Undertaking monitoring well and equipment leak tests prior to taking gas samples.
